Casual Catering Assistant / Cook - Operations Support / Floater – Taranaki Region

We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant/Cook to join our team as an Operations Support / Floater, providing regional support across multiple sites in the Taranaki region. This role plays a key part in covering leave, supporting staffing gaps, and ensuring continuity of service across the region.
This is a casual position and is ideal for someone who enjoys flexibility, autonomy, and stepping into different environments. No two days will be the same, so adaptability and a positive, solutions-focused mindset are essential. The role involves supporting multiple sites across the Taranaki region, and travel between locations will be required.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting with food preparation and cooking to company standards
• Supporting daily production requirements in a commercial kitchen environment
• Preparing, handling, and storing food safely in accordance with food safety guidelines
• Plating, packing, and presenting meals to specification
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen
• Assisting with dishwashing, cleaning, and general kitchen duties
• Following all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures
• Working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a positive dining experience for customers
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Previous experience as a Cook, Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant, or similar role
• Confidence working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• A good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
• A reliable and flexible approach to work
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Pride in producing consistent, high-quality food
• A positive attitude and willingness to support the team wherever needed
