Casual Cook / Catering Assistant – Kerikeri Resthome, KeriKeri

Kerikeri Retirement Village is a charitable organisation and home to 66 residents, living in our accredited residential care facility. The village provides three levels of care across our wings: hospital level care, rest home care, and specialist dementia care.

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Casual Cook / Catering Assistant to join our kitchen team. This is a flexible role, ideal for someone wanting casual hours that fit around study, family commitments, or other work.

About the role
In this dual role, you’ll support our chefs and kitchen team with food preparation, cooking, and general kitchen duties while helping deliver delicious meals to our residents.
Your responsibilities may include:
• Assisting with basic cooking and food preparation
• Preparing and serving meals for residents
• Supporting chefs with daily kitchen operations
• Helping plate and present meals to a high standard
• Setting up the dining area and assisting with meal service
• Keeping the kitchen clean, including dishes and general kitchen duties
• Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times

To be successful in this role you will:
• Have a friendly, positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team
• Be comfortable assisting with basic cooking tasks and kitchen prep
• Be able to work safely in a commercial kitchen environment with hot equipment and large trays
• Have a practical understanding of food safety practices
• Be reliable, organised, and able to manage your time well
• Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
