Chef – Elizabeth Knox Home & Hospital Kitchen, Auckland

A great opportunity has become available at one of our largest aged care kitchens. We are now recruiting for a Chef to join the team at Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital in Epsom.

This is a permanent, full time position, rostered Sunday to Thursday (40 hours per week).

About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering high quality, nutritious meals for our residents while maintaining Cater Plus’s high standards of food safety and service. You will work as part of a supportive kitchen team and contribute positively to the overall dining experience of residents.
The kitchen caters for up to 260 residents daily, so the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment is essential.
The position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a chef with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience who can:
• Prepare, cook and serving of a-la-carte restaurant quality food for patients and staff
• Show an interest in developing skills further
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff for breakfast, lunch and dinner
• Show knowledge of dietary requirements
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
• Work at a high level without supervision
• Be friendly and engaging and know what it means to deliver outstanding customer service

To be successful in this role, you will:
• Be a qualified and experienced Chef
• Have a practical understanding of New Zealand Food Control and Food Safety Regulations
• Be reliable, organised, and able to manage a busy service
• Be a strong team player with a positive, can do attitude
• Show care, professionalism, and respect when working in an aged care environment
