Chef – Industrial Cafeteria, Hastings

Cater Plus is proud to be the catering service provider for Heinz Watties, a Hastings based producer of frozen and packaged fruit, vegetables, sauces, baby food, cooking sauces, dressings and pet foods.

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Chef to join our cafe team. Whilst initially based at the Tomoana site and working the morning shift, flexibility to work across our three Hastings based cafeterias is required along with the ability to work various shifts across our Monday to Friday roster.

In this position you will be carrying out food preparation, cooking, baking, reheating, serving customers, and keeping the café clean.

To be successful you will need:
• a passion for food and enjoy working with customers to keep them coming back for more
• experience preparing food in a café or cafeteria style food service
• knowledge of food safety and hygiene
• to be friendly and engaging, hard-working and flexible
• to be confident to work unsupervised and resolve any problems that arise
• to be able to operate Eftpos and POS machine with a smile
• maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
• great communication skills and a can-do attitude.

You will need to have experience in preparing hot meals, and cabinet options, as well as serving and reheating pre-prepared items. Think tasty, wholesome meals that our customers can order and eat in a short time frame before their next shift starts.
