Chef Manager, Boarding School – Fixed Term – Immediate start

40 hours Monday to Friday (during term time)

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chef Manager to join Cater Plus and the family at Southland Boys High School’s Coldstream Hostel on a fixed term basis while our permanent Site Manager is away. The position involves catering for approximately 100 students who board during the school week, as well as regular school functions throughout the year. Our aim is to provide a home away from home with a delicious meal service that supports health and wellbeing and provides the fuel needed for success.

With an established and loyal team, we are looking for a leader who prides themselves on producing consistently delicious meals time and time again. Reporting to an operations manager, you will be an experienced leader actively involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day-to-day running of the kitchen, and making our client smile! You will bring the best out in your team as you encourage and lead them to get the job done well, challenge them to improve, as well as work together, value and support each other.

This position requires a chef with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, who can:
• Deliver a high volume of healthy and nutritious meals daily,
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation,
• Design menus that are student friendly or relatable to the function brief,
• Cater for varying dietary requirements and implement NZ food control and safety regulations,
• Demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy,
• Show an energetic manner and not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the hard yards,
• Be able to meet budgeted food and labour costs.

This role offers a work/life balance providing a minimum of 40 hours per week during the school term (predominantly Monday to Friday). Flexibility to work additional hours when needed to cater for functions is required.
