Chef Manager – Griffins Snacks, Wiri

Monday to Friday (5.30am – 2.00pm)

An exciting opportunity for a passionate and hands on Chef and Café Superstar who is ready for a new challenge. We have a vacancy for a dynamic Chef with strong cabinet food repertoire to manage the kitchen and run our in-house cafe located at Griffins Snacks in Wiri; manufacturer of many iconic kiwi potato crisps and corn snacks. This is a sole charge position catering for up to 200 production and distribution staff on a daily basis.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

• create, cook, and present food with an international cuisine flare
• day-to-day running of the café providing a breakfast service between 6.30am – and 10.30am, and meal of the day for lunch from 10.30am – 1.30pm.
• Ensure the café cold cabinet is filled with a variety of daily salads, wraps, paninis, modern style sandwiches, vegetarian stacks. The level of expectation we are searching for is an offering similar to a modern streetside café.
• maintenance of a free coffee/tea section and vending machines.
• make our customers smile and keeping them coming back for more.

This position requires a chef with a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience, who can:

• Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine
• Prepare and display great cabinet food.
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements
• Cater to in-house functions from time to time.
• Manage food and labour costs within budget
• Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
• Demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy
• Show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude
• Demonstrate great organisational and customer service skills
