Chef Manager – Griffins Snacks, Wiri

An exciting opportunity has arrived for a passionate and hands on Chef Manager who is ready for a new challenge.

Monday to Friday (6:00am - 2:30pm)

Cater Plus is the proud catering service provider for Griffins Snacks, Wiri , manufacturer of many iconic Kiwi Potato Crisps and Corn Snacks.

We have a vacancy for a dynamic Chef Manager with strong cabinet food repertoire to manage the kitchen and team and run our in-house cafe located at Griffin Snacks, Wiri. Our onsite café will cater for up to 200 production and distribution staff on a daily basis.

In this sole charge role you will be a hands-on chef actively involved in the creating, cooking, and presentation of food with an international cuisine flare, as well as the day-to-day running of the café providing a breakfast service and meal of the day for lunches and dinners. The café cold cabinet will be filled with a variety of daily salads, wraps, paninis, modern style sandwiches, vegetarian stacks. The level of expectation we are searching for is an offering similar to a modern streetside café.

Open Monday to Friday 6am to 2.30pm, you must have great organizational and communication skills to manage and oversee the café.

Your ability to control food costs within budget, as well as your creativity and eye for presentation will see you on the road to success in this position. You will be responsible for making our customers smile and keeping them coming back for more.

This position requires a chef with a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience, who can:

• Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine
• Prepare and display great cabinet food.
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements
• Cater to inhouse functions from time to time.
• Manage food and labour costs within budget
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
• Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
• Demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy
• Show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude
