Cook/Catering Assistant, Matamata

Part time Permanent Position 32 hours

We are on the lookout for a passionate kitchen staff member who is eager to showcase their culinary skills and provide exceptional customer service to the 25 residents plus meals on wheels recipients at our facility in Matamata.

We have an opportunity available for a part-time Cook/Catering Assistant to support our team, so we are looking for a motivated individual who is flexible to work across the various shifts of a 7-day roster. This role has minimum 32 hours per week.

To be successful you will need to:

- Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques
- Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations
- Operate at a level that can take responsibility as sole chef on duty when required
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard-free environment.
- Be friendly and engaging and enjoy making the day of residents by serving amazing meals.
- Have an understanding of dietary requirements, allergies, and food control regulations.
- Be an exceptional team player with a flexible and committed attitude.
- Have good time management skills.
- Be able to work safely in a commercial kitchen with large hot pots and trays.

Kitchen experience is essential for this role. The position requires two days working as a Cook and two days working as a Catering Assistant to support the Site Manager.
