Site Manager - Fonterra Takanini Ambury Café, Auckland

• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
Based at Ambury Café, Fonterra Takanini
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our busy onsite café and kitchen. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring exceptional food quality, customer service, food safety compliance, and efficient kitchen operations.
Provide operational support outside of rostered hours as required, including being available by phone to assist with sickness cover, staffing issues, equipment breakdowns, supplier matters, and other urgent site operational needs. The café operates within a 24/7 manufacturing environment, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to support day and night shift requirements.
What you'll do:
• Manage the daily operation of the café and kitchen, ensuring smooth service delivery.
• Lead, supervise, and support kitchen and front-of-house team members.
• Plan workflows and coordinate food production to meet customer demand.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control standards.
• Maintain compliance with New Zealand Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
• Manage ordering, stock control, inventory levels, and supplier relationships.
• Minimise food waste and control labour and food costs.
• Ensure all equipment is maintained and operating safely.
• Prepare staff rosters and assist with training and development of team members.
• Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with café customers.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work environment.
• Support menu planning and implementation of seasonal or promotional offerings.
• Complete administration, reporting, and site compliance requirements as needed.
What we're looking for:
• Previous experience managing a kitchen, café, or food service operation.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Sound knowledge of food safety and health & safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage stock, costs, and operational performance.
• Hands-on approach with a passion for food and customer service.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of site operations.
