Weekend Chef - Bethesda Retirement Village, Auckland

Cater Plus is the proud food service provider for Bethesda Retirement Village. Nestled next to Puhinui Creek in Wiri, this modern, boutique village offers a range of living options and care services that align with the Seventh-day Adventist Church values.

To support and assist in leading our food service we are looking for an experienced and motivated Chef who has a passion for plant and vegan based meals. Someone who enjoys creating healthy and nutritious meals and understands the impact it can have on one’s health and wellbeing, to join our team at Bethesda. This home caters for 135 residents across two sites, providing for a full range of aged care needs including a dedicated dementia unit.

You will need to be an experienced Chef that will be actively involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day-to-day running of the kitchen, and making our client smile! To succeed you will need excellent communication skills and pride yourself on producing a consistency and delicious meal, time and time again.

This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a chef with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience, or a relevant qualification either in culinary arts or professional cookery with 1-2 years ‘relevant experience who can:
- Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food (including soft meals) including breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements
- Estimating food and labour cost and ordering food supplies
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques
- Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control & safety regulations
- Operate at a level that can take responsibility as sole chef on duty when required, covering the Kitchen
Manager’s days off.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment.

This is a part-time position ( Saturday and Sunday 7.00am to 3.30pm)
