Weekend Chef - Summerset Palmerston North

Saturday and Sunday (8.30am – 5pm)

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Chef to join our team at Summerset on Summerhill, located in Palmerston North. This home caters for the care centre and village residents, as well as our onsite café, and functions. This position is part time to cover the Kitchen Manager’s days off.

With a set menu, you will be a hands-on chef responsible for running the food service for all residents. You will love preparing, cooking and serving wholesome meals that are freshly produced every day. Experience is required in order to be successful in this sole charge weekend role. You must enjoy making traditional meals and baking, thrive on the day-to-day action of a busy kitchen, and have a desire to make our client and their residents smile!

This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a cook/chef with 1-2 years relevant experience, or a relevant qualification either in culinary arts or professional cookery who can:
- Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food,
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation,
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff,
- Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques,
- Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations,
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment,
- Work unsupervised.
