Catering Assistant, Southern Cross Hospital

30 hours per week (Tuesday to Saturday, 8.am – 2.30pm)

Southern Cross Hamilton is a private short-stay surgical hospital based in Hamilton East that is committed to providing restaurant quality meals and catering for special dietary requirements on request. To make this happen, we need a catering assistant who is passionate about excellent service to support our chefs in the kitchen.

What you’ll do:
• ensure the kitchen is safe and hazard free by doing dishes, removing rubbish, and cleaning.
• compile meal trays, deliver to patient rooms, and clear at end of service.
• write up the menus for the chef and assist with basic food preparation.
• top up supplies and generally help to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Who You Are:
• show attention to detail.

• be able to work safely in an industrial kitchen with large hot pots and trays.
• maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment.
• be an exceptional team player with a flexible, committed, can-do attitude.
• excellent communications skills as patient interaction is necessary in this role.
• friendly and engaging and know what it means to deliver outstanding customer service.
