Chef / Café Manager, Auckland

Monday to Friday (6am – 2.30pm)

Are you an experienced Chef/Café Manager looking for your next challenge in a position that offers true work-life balance and competitive remuneration?

Come and lead our café team based on site at Tegel Henderson and help us take our food service to the next level. Tegel is one of New Zealand’s well-known poultry producing companies, and this site employs up to 800 production and office workers. As well as the staff cafeteria which we operate Monday to Friday, a free meal is provided to all staff on site each week.

In this role you will be a hands-on chef actively involved in the creating, cooking, and presentation of all food, as well as the day-to-day running of the cafeteria. With the support of your team, you will be responsible for making our client and customers smile and keep them coming back for more.

This position is Monday – Friday (6.00 am to 2.30pm) with weekends free to enjoy with friends and family. You must have great organisation and communication skills in order to manage the café outside of your working hours - with the café operating hours being 7am to 5pm.

This position requires a chef with relevant industry experience, who can:
• Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine, including cabinet food.
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements
• Manage food and labour costs within budget
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
• Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment.

The ideal candidate will:
• Have excellent communication skills and a flexible, can-do, committed attitude
• Be friendly and engaging, with the ability to lead a productive and positive team
• Have good time management skills, and moderate computer literacy.
