Chef Manager - New Plymouth Girls' High School

A rare opportunity has arisen for a talented Chef Manager to join Cater Plus and our team at New Plymouth Girls’ High School where we cater for the 110 students who reside in Scotland’s Hostel during term time, as well as regular school functions throughout the year, and operate the school café.

In this multifaceted role you will be responsible for managing the school and hostel food service, as well as the hostel cleaning services. Our aim is to provide a home away from home environment with a delicious meal service that supports health, wellbeing, and learning. We work closely with all stakeholders to ensure this vision is achieved.

With an established and loyal team, we are looking for a leader who prides themselves on producing consistently delicious meals time and time again. Reporting to an operations manager you will be an experienced leader actively involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day to day running of the kitchen, and making our client smile! You will work alongside your team, bringing out the best in them as you encourage and lead to get the job done well, challenge them to improve and value and support each other. In this role you will be responsible for 10 staff members and enjoy a modern, well-equipped kitchen.

We require a chef with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, who can:
• Deliver a high volume of healthy and nutritious meals daily
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Design menus that are student friendly or relatable to the function brief
• Portray an extensive knowledge of dietary requirements and ability to implement NZ food control and safety regulations
• Recruit, train, inspire, and manage a team of catering assistants, chefs and cleaning staff
• Demonstrate great leadership and communication skills and computer literacy
• Show an energetic manner and not be afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the hard yards
• Demonstrate an ability to meet budgeted food and labour costs.
