Site Manager/Cook – Waste Management, Auckland
Full time: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday 6.00am to 2.30pm)
Situated at the Waste Management Headquarters, the Hub is a hustling and bustling café stocked full of delicious homemade style baking and fresh feasts. Waste Management is one of New Zealand’s largest and only fully integrated national waste provider companies, and the café will be catering for up to 400 production and head office staff. You will join a team dedicated to preparing and serving outstanding meals for our customers, making them come back for more. With the bonus of weekends and public holidays off, you will have plenty of opportunities to recharge and relax.
This role is hands-on and you will be actively involved in not only the creating, cooking and presenting of meals but also the day-to-day running of the café. Being a Site Manager position, you will need an understanding of managing labour costs within a budget, health and safety requirements and managing staff. This is a role where your time management skills and ability to multitask will come into play to keep the café running like clockwork. When required, you may find yourself creating function food, making barista style coffees, or jumping on the till to serve and process payments. It is all go at the Hub Café.

In this position, you will bring the best out in your team as you encourage and lead them to get the job done well, challenge them to improve, as well as work together, value and support each other. In this kitchen you will have the support of two catering assistants to assist with producing the best food service in the industry.
This position requires a chef with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, who can:
• Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements
• Manage food and labour costs within budget
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
• Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment.
• Demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy
• Show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude
